The article goes on to explain that according to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, only about “5 percent of women naturally possess the body type portrayed in advertising as ideal…” Banks sheds light on the fact that many celebrities and public figures that have that so-called perfect body type are simply genetically predisposed to that physical form.  The Huffington Post then made a very acute observation about society…

Screen Shot 2014-08-13 at 2.31.02 PMThis is an issue that I am so incredibly passionate about.  The media sets us up for failure by creating unrealistic expectations.  The body types possessed by many celebrities and models are frankly unattainable for most of us, myself included.  That’s why I try to focus on setting realistic and accessible goals.  I think that we should all try to focus on what we DO have rather than what we DON’T.  (So cliche, but I’m super passionate about this 🙂 )
