Many people avoid avocados because they are high in calories and fat. Let me set the record straight. Avocados are always a healthy choice! They are a good source of fiber, potassium, folate, monosaturated fats, and vitamins C, K, and B6. Unlike processed or animal-based fats, the fat in avocados is useful and supports healthy body function. In addition to all of their health benefits, it turns out avocados are also super versatile. Let me show you a few non-traditional ways that you can use avocados in your everyday life!
1. Mayonnaise Substitute
Use avocado instead of mayonnaise! Its creamy texture and mild flavor acts as a great, healthy substitute! You can try using avocado in tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, or deviled eggs. 2. Baking Ingredient
You can substitute avocados for butter in your baking to cut out some unhealthy, unwanted fat! All you need to do is substitute avocado for butter in a 1:1 ratio. Since avocado does not melt the same as butter, you will need to increase your wet ingredients a little to compensate. Also, you may need to alter baking times or decrease baking temperature by 20 degrees. Try using it in cupcakes, cakes, breads, or even as a “avocado butter cream” frosting! 3. Dips and Dressings
Avocados also make a great substitute for dips and dressings! Traditional ranch dressings and spinach dips are loaded with fat and calories. Try using an avocado as a dip base and flavor it with herbs and spices. Even guacamole with veggies can be an awesome alternative to traditional vegetable dips.
4. Healthy Creamy Pasta Sauce

Keep it dairy-free or add some Parmesan cheese to create a healthy alternative to traditional Alfredo sauce. You can also use it in macaroni and cheese. Try substituting some avocado for the cream or butter in your mac n cheese recipe OR replace it all together for a new take on an old classic.
5. Add it to Your Smoothie
Using avocado is a great way to make your smoothie thick and creamy without adding dairy. It also provides your body with a ton of nutrients, including natural fats (which most fruit smoothies don’t contain!).
